The Island Parkside Phase I, is the first phase of the final residential piece of Lawrence CommunityWorks’ Union Crossing project, a mixed use, neighborhood creating development, which has included the repurposing of 2 neighboring mill buildings into a total of 133 units of 100% affordable housing and commercial space. The project will ultimately include 2 phases in 2 buildings equaling a total of 80 units of 100% affordable rental housing the bulk of which will target families. It will serve to meet the overwhelming demand for quality affordable rental housing in the city and continue the transformation Lawrence’s historic mill district from a largely vacant post-industrial corner of the city into a vibrant mixed-use neighborhood. Island Parkside Phase 1 which will consist of the construction of the first building with 40 apartments.
