About
The Town of Trumbull is addressing a need to replace the current, outdated Hillcrest Middle School with the development of a new 140,000-square-foot facility. Designed to provide a modern learning environment with cutting-edge educational spaces, the facility includes 3 CTE spaces, a robotics lab, family sciences and tech shops, and a planetarium! Targeting Zero Energy and LEED Gold certification, the project prioritizes sustainability with a focus on low energy use, indoor air quality, and future adaptability. Following a detailed HVAC evaluation, ground source heat pumps paired with solar PV for Net Zero Energy were identified as the most cost-effective solution, supported by substantial federal and state incentives for clean energy.
