My mission is to create a built environment – addressing both new and existing buildings – that fosters the wellbeing of occupants while reducing the burden on material resources and the global climate.

Irmak Turan, Ph.D., is a climate and sustainability expert with over 17 years of experience combining quantitative analytical methods with holistic design thinking to develop resilient, innovative approaches for public and private projects. She serves as the Boston Climate and Sustainability Lead at Arup, where she works with clients to set ambitious sustainability goals and develop high-performance design strategies to impact areas such as energy, carbon, human wellbeing, material health, resource scarcity, and climate equity. Her experience spans practice in the U.S. and abroad, as well as research and teaching at MIT, Georgia Tech, Northeastern, and the Illinois Institute of Technology.
