About
We all have a responsibility to re-mainstream sustainable design. All of our projects need to be high-performing if not downright regenerative. The climate crisis is one of the biggest existential threats to our society, and we design professionals have both the agency and know-how to mitigate it.
As National Sustainable Design Leader at HED, Daniel is leading a cultural transformation, raising the performance floor for all projects across a large, diverse firm. He holds a national, appointed leadership position on AIA CCADE following a 3-year term on COTE and is Co-chair of both the AIA Chicago COTE/2030 Knowledge Community and the Large Firm Roundtable’s Sustainability Committee and its 2030 Climate Action working group. At the large firm roundtable, Daniel is also a member of Professional Practice of Sustainability working group, focusing on Firm Culture and Accountability. In 2026 he was appointed to AIA Chicago’s Board of Trustees. In these roles, he passionately educates and advocates for sustainability, equity, inclusion, and environmental justice, centered on refocusing the practice of architecture on people-positive and regenerative high-performance design.
